Tutorial 2: Cinema of Attractions

  1. I think the most obvious example of cinema attractions in contemporary film would be CG (Computer Graphics). The advancment in com puter graphic technology has made movies like Transformers blockbuster hits with its awe inspiring spectacle of amusments. Its interesting to note that some critics actually judge a movie based on the quality of computer graphics. Meaning that a movie might be classed as good because the graphics will 'blow you out of your seat' and not necessarilly because the narrative was anything special. An example of this was the movie Wanted with angalina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, this movie offered spectacular computer graphics and action packed scenes but (in this critics oppinion) was lacking in the narrative department.
